ha ha ha, bless your soul. You really think you're in control? [Jul. 13th, 2009|02:13 pm]

[music |Crazy - Gnarls Barkley]

I got up on Saturday around 9ish. We (Dan and I) got breakfast and chilled a bit. We headed to the beach around 1. We took a little blow up boat we bought from Wal*Mart for $20 out on Thetis Lake. We came back around 3pm to eat Quiznos in Langford. Then we returned to the lake with beers and potato chips and proceeded to float around on our little boat until 7pm, when we went back home, ate burgers, drank lemonade and went to bed.

I just want to redo that day over and over again.

Yesterday it was too cold to go back, so I did laundry while Dan was at work, then we ended up lazing around the house, going out to Sooke for a bit to take care of Dan's dog, and then went out with Dan's friend Matt for nachos. Also watched Ted Bundy and more Lain.

Now I am at work, wishing it was still the weekend and slowly but surely taking care of premoving chores (okay, I phoned to find out when the building manager will be back, and told Shaw to come hook up my internet / phone (actually need a landline for the intercom system. Blegh). I have a long list of places I need to call to change my address with, though I don't need to worry about it quite yet, and I have started a list of things we will need immediately (er, trashcan?) and things we'll need in the long run.

I need boxes and don't want to pay for them.

Clearly, I am excited about moving and want to get to it, but there's not a whole lot to do a half month in advance when you only have one room, half a kitchen and half a bathroom to pack :/

My 2pm appointment didn't show :/

I have a million ouchies on my feet from my sandals (okay, more like five or six on each). I put on bandaids, but then I just got more ouchies in new places :(

I dreamed last night that the glove mascot from Hamburger Helper was trying to get me. And then I went to a yard sale where there were stripper Mrs Clauses. I trapped the Hamburger Helper mascot in a paragraph, eventually.

Tonight, I think I shall finish Brave Story and maybe watch more Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Argh. It's Friday. It's hot and sunny out. I have no clients, no tasks except tradeshow stuff, which I'm sort of at a standstill on, and franchise manual, which I can't do without Neil's input and he's not here.

Yup. I can't go out, but there's nothing for me to do in here except answer the phone (it's rung twice so far. Ooooh). I'll go get lunch soon. Maybe that'll make me feel better.

At least it's still supposed to be nice tomorrow :)

Got the apartment :) Dan and I move in August first. Excited! But now I have 21 days in which to get my shit together O_o I'll work it out. Also: Lacking in furniture, lol. Neil's given me a bookcase (whoo!), but I have nothing for a couch or table & chairs. And I'm picky on the table front, lol. Unless someone gives us one, it may be awhile before we pick one up.

Hmm. What else? Not much. Life is pretty status quo, and I'm pretty okay with that. Working my way through Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Watched half of Brave Story last night, which is cute (I saw an AMV for it at KeiKon - took me long enough to get around to downloading it!). When I am done these, it will be catching up on SPN time. I'm actually only 12 episodes behind, so it's not that bad, but I figure if I'm going to go to a con... yeah.

Five hours is a long time to waste. Usually I don't like doing non work stuff at work, because I get guilty, but I think I may write for this period of time, unless something else comes up, lol.

No plans for the weekend. Dan's best friend is moving to Vancouver at the end of the month, and I don't know if he's hanging with him, but I don't want to bug him if he is :/ I think I will go to the White Heather Tea Room tomorrow, if I don't manage to touch base with him. I am hoping for beach, if I do touch base with him :)

The song is from a music video Dan worked on. :) Catchy! The best part is when she steals his car at the end :D

I can has manga now, yes? My bookcase is too small for all my manga, lol. I don't even HAVE all of it and it's too full, lol. It was funny in the post office - the girl is used to me and my heavy boxes of mostly books.

We apparently 99.9% have our apartment, so Dan told me in a text. I haven't actually spoken to him to find out what the .1% is. I assume credit check. Wa~ant.

I think that is all, except that I am not a graphic designer and sometimes become irritated when my job ends in random tasks for Ericas :(

[music |Love Story - Taylor Swift]

Dan and I have found the perfect apartment, but they do a credit check and reference check, and now we have to wait. I'm not too worried, except that neither of us has much for references. I mean, I have my current landlady (yes, I gave notice at my apartment for Aug 15 - or the 1st, if my roomie can find someone to take the room by then) and my current employer. I skipped Trevor and said I was living at home before that, lol. It was only 4 months and I barely met him. Dan has his current employers, but he's still living at home. Which isn't really so bad, I guess.

ANYWAY, this boils down to it being fairly unlikely we won't get the place unless someone else gets it first, but I'm still, like, obsessively concerned about it. But it was such an awesome place. And totally the right place. The only things I don't like about it are that it doesn't allow pets (I don't have any yet, but I'd been hopeful) and it has white carpets, which always terrify me.

Otherwise, it's in a building, second floor with a balcony, probably about as big as the two bedroom I'm in now and has lots of closets and is still in Mayfair (so walking distance to downtown). I want it. I want it so bad.

I should still be looking for apartments, just in case we don't get it, because now I do have to be out of my apartment in a month (or maybe less!), but I'm much more interested in furniture on Craigslist, lol. (we're good for bedroom stuff, but need a table and chairs. A couch would be nice, too.)

A little sad to leave Alder Street. It was my first real apartment (I don't think fantasy life with Amber in Trevor's apartment really counts. That was like an extended vacation in a posh-assed hotel) and I've been there awhile (through 3 roomies!), but I'm excited to move, lol.

My mummy sent me boxes of my stuff :D I was home when they came, and recall at one point in the afternoon going "did someone just knock on the door?" and we were real quiet, but no more knocks came and so I missed it, and now they're at the post office, which is a 15 minute walk and there are three boxes ;_; And Dan's gone back to Sooke for the next few days and even if he hadn't, he usually doesn't make it over until after the post office is closed (I have been spoiled by my boyfriend and his car). I guess it'll just be a matter of picking them up one at a time and carrying them home. :( I want my stuff no~ow.

Took a long weekend last weekend (as in, took yesterday off - we were filming on the holiday and felt a day off was deserved). It was lovely. We went to the wrap party for Cascadia Saturday night. I got to know Jesse a bit better - he's pretty cool. Also, got to ride in a limo :D And discovered that there's a crepe place in James Bay, though it was closed (since it was 1am-ish - it's right across the street from a pretty awesome pub that has Trivial Pursuit cards on all the tables :D). I shall have to go sometime.

Played a lot of Monopoly, watched Wes Craven's New Nightmare (which I liked better than Nightmare on Elm Street, lol), Batman (I got it and Batman Returns 2/$20 - almost got all three of the Riddick movies for $14. I may go back.) and Boogie Nights. Also finished Hellsing and went back to Lain. Went for walks up the Gorge and made rice krispie squares. Good weekend. :)

And now I am at work and it's cloudy, rainy and cold again (some summer this has been, so far! :( ) and I need to call to make sure lady got my fax, but don't want to do it too early, lol. And I should go do work now. I think this is shaping up to be one of those days where I have to delete my browsing history at the end of the day...

Also: I have to go to the dentist tonight :(

edit, 10:58am

So, I called to make sure our fax went through, and she asked if one or both of us could stop by tomorrow to make our deposit and sign a tenancy agreement. Sounds like we've got the place! I'm actually a little confused, because I don't think they could have done a credit check in that time, and I know they haven't called my references, because I'm the only person in the office today - they can't have called Neil. I'm wondering if the deposit is pending our approval, in which case I had better bloody get it back if for some reason we're not O_o I shall make sure (or make Dan make sure) before giving them money.

I can't remember the last time I updated my LJ twice in one day O_o

Not going to Edmonton, which makes Kat's visit a little more affordable for me :D I no longer secretly cry at the cost of the SPN con.

So, as you all know, I've been looking for an apartment for the last couple of weeks

and I have some comments )

I've been looking around on craigslist to see if there are any people doing the 'I want to speak another language with someone!' thing for French or Japanese (or even German, though my German's really bad) and have found fun things:

I was amused. And may do the manhunt thing someday, though I think I would get slaughtered.

Neil gave me a marketing task and I now have, like, six tabs open in my internet and 3 notepad files going. Not to mention my catalogue and looseleaf paper, lol. And people tell me I'm organized.

My task is to create a trade show booth, including signs, promotional materials, clothing for the two people running the table and possibly a dog and brochures. Funfun. Speaking of which, I'm apparently going to a trade show in October, lol.

Yesterday was Canada Day. Yay, Canada. I... didn't do anything, lol. Slept and looked at apartments. It was also the last day of the Cascadia shoot. And the call time was 3am (though we had to be at CineVic at 2:30 to pick up equipment) and it went until about 7am. Yeah. Dan and I spent yesterday morning sleeping, and then were still tired all day. And were in bed by 9. No fireworks :(

[info]snarky_kat and I are going to a Supernatural convention at the end of August. I shall stalk Jensen Ackles :D

Went to look at an apartment yesterday. Had really low ceilings. It met pretty much all of our requirements except for laundry, but we decided against it. We have new guidelines for what we want and a slightly more flexible price range, lol. Hopefully going to look at a couple more this weekend. I would really like to move August first. Still haven't given notice :/

I'm having trouble with food :/ I eat cereal for breakfast, I eat a sandwich for lunch, I eat whatever I feel like for dinner. I am still hungry throughout the day, and keep ending up buying things, so I feel like I need snackfood of some form and would prefer to bring it from home. I have tried a million brands of granola bars, all of which are either too expensive or too sweet. I've had various kinds of fruit and cold veggies, both of which were good for awhile, but eventually hurt my stomach(!!). I would like something healthy-ish. Or at least not super unhealthy (like cookies or brownies). I'm lazy. I don't like to go through a big production number for these things. I don't have a microwave at work, and I only sometimes have access to a fridge. I eat at my desk and don't want a big mess. Suggestions?

Almost done Demon's Lexicon. I hope to finish it tonight, and then I can start The Stand.

edit, 12:47pm

Also! There was an article in the TC about the film I was helping out on. Dan gets mentioned by name because he's awesome :) Sadly, the print version had a picture of the crew at work, which I was in, but not the online version :(

Also: Olwyn, I can have the time off if you want to go for it.

edit, 2:11pm

I went to sign up for swimming lessons. Like, had the phone in my hand and had started dialling when I realized I have to go to the Dentist the first day of classes, and already rescheduled the appointment once, and that Kat will arrive on a class day. I think it wasn't meant to be ;_; I should probably wait until after we've moved, to see if we're still near the Crystal Pool or if I should sign up somewhere else. I am disappointed :( They only have classes Tuesday nights or Mon-Fri from 8:45-9:30am :( They had more adult classes in the winter. I shall check back in the fall.
